Building a Secure Analytics SaaS Tool for RW Pierce

Visual interpretation of data in an artistic style.

The Problem

RW Pierce wanted to give its credit union clients a powerful online reporting tool. The existing prototype was complex and needed to be reimagined as a commercial SaaS application.

Key requirements:

  • A simple interface to explore complex datasets

  • Intuitive demographic visualisation

  • Collaborative features to save, amend, and share reports securely

  • Scalable architecture to manage gigabytes of raw data efficiently and securely

The Idea

We began with an in-depth UX phase, redesigning the reporting interface to ensure ease of use and clarity. Our development team then built a robust SaaS platform using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and JavaScript, hosted on Heroku for scalability and third-party integrations.

Key features included:

  • Automated, versioned data import toolset for secure uploads and real-time processing feedback

  • Preview functionality for data validation before publishing to clients

  • Rollback capability to restore previous data versions

  • A flexible, intuitive report builder where users filter datasets, generate charts, and create tailored reports

  • Secure, performant querying of large-scale datasets
