Where the Elaph website achieved a high amount of organic website traffic each month, it was much lower than competitors in the industry, and the team knew that there was a lot more search traffic to gain. Our SEO team were tasked to work alongside our UX team to seek opportunities to grow the performance of the website by increasing relevant traffic and improving on-site engagement.

As the website is very large and constantly updated, our strategy focused on SEO fundamentals to ensure the website was providing the best possible experience for readers and that search engines are easily able to access and understand content.

The solution

A back-to-basics approach saw the team optimise the robots file and sitemaps, as well as seeking to optimise crawl budget by setting irrelevant pages to be no indexed.

The impact

As early as two months into the project, we begun to see huge improvements of organic traffic going to the Elaph website, including:

  • 38% increase in clicks from the search engine results page to the website

  • 30% increase in impressions on the search engine results page

  • 34% increase in organic traffic year on year
